A campaign about surveillance should be able to answer this on one page, in plain words. Here it is.
Your email address. That is the only field on the form, and we do not ask for your name, your street, or your phone number.
Two emails. One when the Rules & Procedures Committee sets a hearing date. One reminder shortly before that meeting. If the ordinance reaches a vote on short notice, you may get a third so you have time to show up.
That is the whole plan. If it ever grows past this, we will say so here and in the updates log before we send anything.
EmailOctopus stores the addresses, sends the confirmation, and handles unsubscribes. Nobody else keeps a copy, and no address is exported anywhere else.
Your browser never talks to them. Most sites embed the mailing list company's own script, which lets that company see every visitor to the page whether or not anyone signs up. This site does not. The form posts to this domain, and our server passes the address on. EmailOctopus learns your email address if you submit the form, and nothing at all if you do not.
Open tracking and click tracking are switched off, so no invisible pixel is added to the messages and we are never told whether you opened one or followed a link. We know how many people are on the list. We do not know what any of you did with the email.
Every email carries an unsubscribe link. One click, effective immediately, no reply needed and no reason asked. We keep nothing behind except the record that the address opted out, which is what stops it being re‑added by mistake.
No analytics. No cookies. No tracking pixels. No third‑party scripts. Every font, image, and stylesheet is served from this domain, so loading a page here tells no other company that you visited.
You do not have to take our word for it. Open your browser's network tab and reload. The only outbound links on the whole site go to the Town's official website and the Commonwealth's voter lookup, and only when you click them.
If any of this stops being true, we change this page and note it in the updates log on the same day. Same rule as everything else here.
